FAQs
When should I allow my child to own his own paintball
gun?
It is your decision as to when your child is mature enough own his own
paintball gun, but you definitely want to be sure that your child is
mature. A paintball gun is not a weapon, but there are people that may
use it as such or use it for graffiti. Be sure to explain to your child
the potential dangers of a paintball gun before allowing him to own
his own.
Is it ok to play paintball with ski goggles instead
of a paintball mask?
No. If you are going to play paintball, it is important that you have
a paintball mask. A paintball mask, one that is made specifically for
the wild sport of paintball, will have met very strict industry standards.
A paintball can go over 270 mph – ski goggles are used to the
impact of gently falling snow. Do you really think that they can hold
up to a paintball like a paintball mask can?
What is a safe velocity to have my paintball marker
set at?
The maximum velocity that you should ever set your paintball gun to
is 300 feet per second, approximately 204 miles per hour. This does
not mean that you need to keep your paintball marker set at this velocity
– it will still work well at a lower velocity. Bruising is very
common in paintball when a paintball hits unprotected skin, but above
300 feet per second, there is the risk of the paintball hitting a person’s
bare skin so hard that some of the paintball itself and also bacteria
can be pushed through the pores and under the skin.
How can I make sure that I keep and use my paintball
gun safely?
You should have a barrel blocking device for your paintball gun. A barrel
blocking device (BBD) blocks the barrel in case the paintgun is fired
accidentally off of the playing field. You certainly do not want this
to happen – in an area off of the playing field, people will not
be wearing the same safety equipment that paintball players wear while
on the field.
